Rake Crown Moulding Nested

All nested crown moulding cuts in the horizontal plane, with the bottom edge of the crown moulding nested against the fence are the same as purlin or square tail fascia cuts.

All nested crown moulding cuts in the vertical plane, with the top edge of the crown moulding nested against the fence are the same as gable end verge-barge-fascia rafter cuts.

You can use perpendicular bisecting lines to find the miter angles for nested crown moulding  for horizontal crown moulding or rake crown moulding. Just like we do with horizontal crown moulding by calculating the nested miter angle in our head, the rake crown moulding nested miter angle can also be easily calculated in our head. If the rake crown moulding intersects  horizontal crown moulding, then the miter angle for nested rake crown moulding is the roof slope angle divided by 2. In this next drawing the roof slope angle is 40°, therefore the miter angle will be 20°. For the rake crown moulding at the top of a sloped ceiling or gable end the miter angle is the same as the roof slope angle. Since, we're not turning the rake crown moulding in the horizontal plane the saw blade bevel angle is set at 0.00°.

Rake crown moulding that also turns in the horizontal plane will use the saw blade bevel angle equal to the bisected horizontal corner wall angle for the nested crown saw blade bevel angle.

In this next drawing using three different profiles for the crown moulding with the crown nested in the miter box or miter saw with the Wall corner angles = 90.00°

Face A  Miter #1
Miter = 45.00°
Bevel  = 0.00°

Face B  Miter #2
Miter = Roof Slope Angle
Bevel  = 45.00°

Miter = Roof Slope Angle
Bevel  = 45.00°

Face C  Miter #4
Miter = 45.00°
Bevel  = 0.00°

Miter = 45.00°
Bevel  = 0.00°

Face B  Miter #6
Miter = Roof Slope Angle
